- Introduction to Amazon WorkSpaces
- Introduction to Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager
Amazon WorkSpaces is a fully managed desktop computing service in the cloud. Amazon WorkSpaces lets you easily provision cloud-based desktops that allow end-users to access the documents, applications and resources they need with the device of their choice, including laptops, iPad, Kindle Fire, or Android tablets. With a few clicks in the AWS Management Console, you can provision a high-quality desktop experience for any number of users.
In addition to this, the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager (Amazon WAM) offers a fast, flexible, and secure way for you to deploy and manage applications for Amazon WorkSpaces. Amazon WAM accelerates software deployment, upgrades, patching, and retirement by packaging Microsoft Windows desktop applications into virtualized application containers. These applications run on the end-user’s Amazon WorkSpaces instance as though they are natively installed.
Amazon WAM allows you to build and curate a selection of desktop applications for your users and control access to those applications. You can build an application catalog of third party applications that you already own the license for, internally-developed custom applications, and applications purchased through the AWS Marketplace for Desktop Apps. Simple, pay as you go, user-based pricing ensures that you only pay for the applications that people use.
